Electric Energy Burden Analysis
This analysis calculated the percent of median household income spent on electricity bills in 2016 (not including other energy expenses). Each census tract in KY falls within a certain utility boundary. For each tract, the following was calculated:
(2016 Electric Utility's Residential Revenue / 2016 Electric Utility's # Customers) / 2016 median household income per census tract
On-Bill Financing- some KY utilities pay for energy efficiency upgrades in their customers' properties. Participating customers save money and pay a charge on their monthly bill for these upgrades. Only 6 of KY's more than 50 utilities offer this program.
